Robert Aryeteey Gallery
Born: 1966, Ghana
About his works:
Robert’s approach to contemporary and traditional Ghanaian subject gives a feeling of freshness and art aesthetics. The expressive context in his recent paintings evokes a feeling of factual and analytical perception thus providing a great attitude of intellectual dimensions.
Much of his acrylic and watercolour paintings are the result of his attitude to synchronize with the pace of the culture of Ghana. Inevitably, he reacts to ideas and situations which constitute the current mode of his environments; thus sensing and assimilating new directions of thought and vision plus an inventive capacity and diversity.
Robert Aryeteey’s works reflect an emerging style full of transformation, articulation and absorption of ideas whist not refusing the modernist and international outlook.
As with all art philosophies, he had a deep yearning to be “free”, versatile and if possible demonstrate a strong flexible approach to his painting. It is in this regard that he proved to be going back and forth intuitively in everything he does. The reasoning demonstrates a proclivity towards nature’s characteristics of variety.
Despite his latitude and flexibility, he maintains a self-discipline work pattern with vigor and total co-ordination in each work. Robert’s work shows his exquisite comprehension of the character and anatomy of his subjects and its elements that clearly conceptualizes reality and co-ordinate representational deftness of form and colour. What he defines clearly is that each subject asserts its character and expression such that no two subjects can be subjugated to the same techniques and expression.
His contribution to modern Ghanaian Art can be measured by his diversified intellectual engagement and by the emerging remarkable complexity of his works.
