David Graux Gallery
Born: 1970, France
David Graux is a superb draughtsman, who remains emotionally detached from his subjects. The polished perfection of his work is no doubt inspired by the Renaissance artists and their ideas. These were expressed with a long sense of composition and crisp handling of paint.
Representing classical beauty in a contemporary context, David Graux’s nude suggest a cold languid eroticism, made ambigious by their refusal to meet the viewer’s gaze.
Yet David Graux takes these ideas further by painting idealized and “exotic” back drops for his nudes.
This young artist exhibits permanently with one gallery in Paris and works can be found in collections around the world.
